Countryside Education Competitions 2015

Hampshire Country Learning receives funding from agricultural show societies across the Hampshire area to enable them to coordinate farm visits for local schools.

During Farmhouse Breakfast Week, teachers from schools within 20 miles of each showground were invited to come and join us for a locally sourced cooked breakfast in a farmhouse kitchen. During the meeting we shared lots of free educational resources and local visit opportunities.

Since then lots of schools have made educational visits to their local working farms, enabling their pupils to experience the 'farm to fork' story. Judges from each agricultural society recently visited these schools to see their associated project work and to choose the schools that they felt had made the most of their visit - here are their reports:

If you would like to get involved during 2016, we will be sending out breakfast invitations during the autumn term, so get in touch and make sure that we include your school.......

Hampshire Country Learning often calls upon specialists to make the most of specific features of a farm or private Estate that we are taking children to visit. Each year we coordinate a visit to the Bereleigh Estate and thanks to the kindness of their neighbours, the children enjoy meeting at very close range the inhabitants of a traditional farm pond. Watch our video for a fantastic insight into what lives in a seemingly quiet farm pond!
