New 2016 programme launched

Hampshire Country Learning (part of The Country Trust) provides FREE educational visits to local working farms throughout the Hampshire area. We receive funds from a variety of sources to ensure that we are able to work with as many different schools as possible, so that the next generation understand where their food really comes from and the importance of the countryside.

We are delighted to announce the details of our Agricultural Show Society projects for 2016:

As part of our work we coordinate Countryside Education Projects for local agricultural show societies across the Hampshire area. During Farmhouse Breakfast Week, teachers from schools within 20 miles of each showground are invited to come and share a locally sourced cooked breakfast in a nearby farmhouse kitchen. During the meeting we share lots of free educational resources and discuss local visit opportunities. Teachers share ideas and experiences, encouraging others to fully utilise the working countryside as an engaging and enriching educational experience.

We have also recently launched our Countryside Adventure Competitions which are designed to be fully accessible for pupils with additional needs, and those without! Details of these are available under our 'Teachers - special needs' tab. These will also be launched during Farmhouse Breakfast Week, and spaces are going very fast!

Hampshire Country Learning often calls upon specialists to make the most of specific features of a farm or private Estate that we are taking children to visit. Each year we coordinate a visit to the Bereleigh Estate and thanks to the kindness of their neighbours, the children enjoy meeting at very close range the inhabitants of a traditional farm pond. Watch our video for a fantastic insight into what lives in a seemingly quiet farm pond!
